Moving Valuation
The College Movers team has been providing exceptional service to our local communities for many years and even though we have an excellent track record we are human and mistakes can happen on occasion. We want to make sure we give you the best options to fully protect your move. We offer three different valuation levels, so no matter your budget we have a valuation coverage to help protect your move.
What is Valuation?
Valuation is the declaration by the shipper (customer) of the amount of the carrier’s maximum liability in the event of loss or damage. This covers loss or damage to the goods while in the care, custody, and control of the carrier. Valuation is not insurance.
1) Released Value:
Released Value provides minimal protection at no cost to the customer. The College Movers assumes liability for no more than $0.60 per pound per article to a maximum of $2,000. You may increase this liability for loss or damage by paying additional valuation charges.
*Note: High Value Inventory is not applicable under this coverage
2) Added Value:
Added value provides coverage at a maximum liability of $6.00 per pound per article to a maximum of $4,000. The additional cost for this coverage is contained in our Platinum Plus rates.
3) Full Value:
Full Value Protection provides the most coverage at an additional cost. Shipper (customer) must select either a lump sum value for the entire shipment or an amount per pound that may not be less than $7.00 per pound, whichever is greater.
*Note: If the customer does not identify each item with extraordinary value on the High Value Inventory, the mover’s liability will be limited to no more than $7.00 per pound per article.
What is High Value Inventory?
High Value Inventory is the inventory of all items that are considered to have extraordinary value in excess of $100 per pound per article that is included in the shipment. The customer is responsible for specifically identifying these items and advising the carrier by completing the High Value Inventory Form prior to packing or loading. Items considered to be of high value may include the following:
- Currency or coins
- Jewelry
- Precious metals, gems, stones, etc.
- Silverware, china sets or crystal
