Who We Are

Here at College Movers we employ a diverse range of people to provide the highest quality moving and junk removal services. From full-time, part-time, and graduate college students, to full-time staff who assist with our more complex services that are not in school. We have always had a focus on employing college students in a broad assortment of majors, looking to expand their education through hands-on work in the field while earning a fair wage to finance school expenses. At the same time, we also need individuals not in school to assist with complex jobs, operate equipment, back-end office and warehouse functions, and help train our part-time staff. We want to help develop our employees into business professionals, create leaders, and help them prepare for the world outside of the classroom through service in our communities. Many stay on with us as we grow and expand, rising up within the company. But for those who go elsewhere, we want to make sure their time with us gives them skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives. We always provide a high-quality and worry-free service for every one of our customers for a price anyone can afford.

History

2016
College Movers & Junk Hauling started as a summer job during sophomore year at Indiana University in February of 2016. The company was originally created to supply college students with a fair wage to pay for their college tuition while providing excellent and enjoyable moving and hauling services to the Bloomington, IN community.

2017
Wanting to expand our services and perfect our craft, we opened our Columbus, IN location in 2017. A year later, we purchased and renovated our Columbus warehouse to offer high-quality storage to our customers and provide a customized facility for our people to work out of. Plus, store our ever-growing assortment of equipment!

2018
By 2018, our Bloomington office really needed space to grow! We purchased and renovated a large property to accommodate our ever-growing fleet, storage demand, and expand our service offerings. Getting this facility has allowed us to build our own custom trucks and equipment, expand into portable storage containers, and offer space for camper, boat, and RV storage

2019
Seeing a need for a better moving and junk removal company in Indianapolis, and to provide more affordable service for our out-of-town moves, we expanded to Indianapolis in 2019. After a few years, we grew enough to purchase our own facility so we can provide the same high-quality storage services to the Indianapolis community and create a better space for our team to work out of. It is also fun for our team to renovate and create spaces we are proud to offer to our customers and work out of every day.

2020
There was a lot going on in the world in 2020. Timing isn't always perfect, but we were still able to grow and expand service offerings in 2020 by purchasing a few hundred storage containers to offer portable storage and moving containers to our customers! (After a year and 8 months of COVID shipping delays, we were finally in action!)

2021
In 2021, we started creating some of our own custom equipment. Our customers have unique needs, and we need custom solutions to ensure we have the best offerings! We have made our own roll-off trucks, tow trucks, liftgate trucks, and junk trucks. With more fun projects in the pipeline even today!

2022
After receiving a large work order from Purdue University in 2022, we decided it was time to open operations in Lafayette. After 2 years of solid growth, it was time to take on an even larger project, clearing brush to build our Lafayette warehouse to develop our service offerings even further!

2024
Indianapolis is BIG. We realized we could help reduce costs for our customers in Carmel, Greenwood, and their surrounding towns by expanding our locations to be closer to our customers. In 2024, we opened two new offices to be near our great customers in these communities!

Today, our focus has become creating the highest quality service and experience company, building a team of great people who work well together and enjoy what they do. While still staying true to our original goal of providing students with excellent jobs while in college, we do have a number of full-time staff in a diverse set of roles to make sure our services are unparalleled in the industry.
